Chapter 3 – Preparation
The focus of Chapter 3 is on reducing avoidable risks through a process of active preparation. In this section you will be asked to consider a variety of elements that, when thoughtfully managed and consciously considered, will make your work environment and client interactions safer.
As a professional, you understand that you are most capable of meeting the expectations of your organization and keeping people safe when you are fully prepared to do your work. Preparation takes a variety of forms and including how you dress, your knowledge of your clients, the acuity of your observation, and your ability to maintain control in provocative or potentially dangerous situations.
The staff development in this section is critical in that it helps you better understand the steps you can take to reduce the risk of a crisis occurring.
